Andy Diggle, the writer of the Bionic Commando: Chain of Command comic book, has let the news slip about the pre-order bonus for Bionic Commando - a limited edition printed version of our weekly webcomic Chain of Command, with an exclusive cover by legendary comic book artist Dave Gibbons, the artist and co-creator of Watchmen (to be a major motion picture in 2009, fact fans).
Read the full interview with Andy right here at Newsarama.
We'll have more news on the comic book at, appropriately enough, next week's Comicon in San Diego, where Andy and Ben will be hosting a panel about Bionic Commando, and where Dave Gibbons himself will be performing signings at the Capcom booth!
We'll also have our own exclusive interview with Andy Diggle next week to find out more about his involvement in the project. Til then, gaze longingly at the preview artwork and dream about it being in your hands...

Yeah Buddy!!
...Going to preorder this weekend. Tried to months ago @ Gamestop in NY but they said it wasnt in their system?! Surely it must be now. Still cant wait to play BC:R!!!!..(sorry, just had to throw that in there)I've been waiting for this! Must get the comics!
The Bionic Commando part of Comicon seems to pretty big. Bigger than E3 and Captivate I guess. Will there be any live coverage you know of? I can't attend the event and I'd love to hear what Ben has to say in real-time.
gaming media concerns...
Apparently, according to this ( http://kotaku.com/5026780/bionic-commando-has-control-issues ) Bionic Commando has control issues... or is too hard... or not intuitive.Well, I wish I could just ask these people what was it like when they first played an FPS... a 3D game... a video game... or a card game. I believe it wasn't the easiest thing on Earth. Heck, I just played a new card game recently, and I was confused for the first 15 minutes.
I wish I could just tell them: "That's what happens when you play something NEW!" Something that has never been done before in this way has to deserve some time to get used to. I respect the guys at Kotaku and the gaming media in general... but I think it's unfair that they ask for novelty, yet complain that it's too new and takes some time to get used to. I mean, I'm not part of the gaming media, but that's kind of obvious to me.
Anyways, I guess my feelings towards BC have started to kick in now... xD
Also, you guys just announced that the BC Chain of Command will be the pre-order bonus... but how about the Spencer Action figure? Will it be sold separately?
Thanks.
Yuri
Dave *FIDDLESTICKS* Gibbons?
You guys got Dave Gibbons? You? Seriously? Like... Seriously?! Holy *Shirt!* That's awesome! I'm an art student double majoring in Game & Entertainment Arts as well as Entertainment Illustration. So Dave Gibbons is like a personal hero of mine. THE MAN WORKED ON THE *Well Made* WATCHMEN! Does my improper grammar and sentence structure accurately portray how blown away I am? No? I would also like to say i have nvr loved capcom more then i do these moments filled with excitement over the fact that capcom is bringing back the good old days. when gaming took patience and skill. now I may not be as well aged as my bionic brethren but i long for the days of 2d, side scrolling, trial and error, and a sense of accomplishment. As opposed today where games have been dumbed down for the casual gamer thus most games these days seem to play them self...
"the game basically masturbates in front of you"
"YEAH I SAID IT!"

1UP
It was really awesome hearing your voice dubbed right over Jun Takeuchi's in the 1UP Show's interview with Shane. Made me chuckle. Well done Gearoid.I was already going to preorder the game, now it just makes the deal sweeter.

Lol ok well I can feel it
It burns within me, a searing pain mixed with pleasure that just begs for release. In not too long Bionic Commando Rearmed will change this world forever, it will be a better world A 2-D WORLD!!!When all these people open their eyes and realize that FPS's (Bionic Commando Next-Gen NOT INCLUDED) are over-rated and play soley on graphics rather than innovative game-play. This realization will impact the market like a ruffie on $3.00 Long-Island night.
The ruined video game industry will beg to be put out of it's misery as towers of trashed game discs rise above the skyline. The homeless will lie under a weaved net of Halo 4 discs.
The very impact of the bombshell that fell on the video-game industry will leave millions jobless, and as I walk by them I WONT EVEN GIVE THEM THE CONDENSATION OFF MY WATER BOTTLE. A small grin will form on my face, as statues are erected of Ben Judd and Simon Viklund.
The revolution will come at a price, and many will die in the very streets that they attempted to recreate in all their first person glory.
The hazardous smoke from burning video-game discs will cloud the cities, leaving only those who can afford gas masks alive.
It will be all thanks to Capcom for having the BALLS TO RELEASE 2-D TITLES AGAIN (Mega Man 9 & Bionic Commando Re-Armed).
(Did I mention i'm a fan of retro 2-D gaming?)
Dammit Hyakitaki...
I just hope you know how much you rule for posting the above comment. I can do nothing but salute you brother! The one thing you left out is the scorched and maimed bodies filling the streets with the plasma that Gearoid blasted from his back door crevasse to show the 3D non believers that we're not FORKING around. BCR will destroy!! New fangled BC will cause things of the body to explode within our nether regions that only the most esoteric medical tomes of ancient lore have any answers to.YES!!! YES!!!! May the world of shooters be sent back to the stone age by the blood spilled from our Bionic Bad-ass-id-ness!!!
And just make sure..
That you are already home, or have a responsible means of transportation to your place of residence if you post anything half as messed up as I just did. Keep safe to all my Bionic Brothers!!!!!A final comment.
Whoever the gimp is out there within this community that's throwing the proverbial turd in the punchbowl by saying that BCR is a 0(Zero) in the most recent poll; all I have to say to you is that you should probably ask daddy to buy you some diapers to reconcile what will happen to your *BASS* when a bionic arm is 16" up it. Seriously.. Whom ever voted a ZERO has questionable standing as a gamer in my humble opinion. I digress. Don't post after a date with Jack Daniels.@typhone666
Do you really believe someones voted 0 seriously? It was probably some punk with nothing better to do than stir up "shoot!"uh oh
have the troops been rallied from a mob poking ben with pitch forks to a mob calling for the demise of crappy mainstream feed games and the return of the epic 2d age that has long been forgotten... i hope so@ Hyakitaki
.....that was glorious...... Seriously man that should be on a hallmark card.
and really? who votes 0. wat a d0uche.
I hope they weren't serious.
I can only assume that someone more intoxicated than myself stumbled on this site and wanted to be a *FORK* stick. If you dig games (which I haven't in 10 years) and checked out any of the vids of BCR and new fangled BC and still voted a zero, you shouldn't be talking *SHOOT* about it. I love to go bowling and play drums. If I happen to stumble on a site with other people whom like to go bowling or play drums I send supportive comments and ask questions to gain further expertise that other members of the group have a much greater wealth the knowledge of the subject than I do. I love Bionic Commando and started getting back into games because I heard they were coming out with these titles. I support all the other fans and people who love these games. I don't on the other hand know how to play blackjack. I wouldn't go to a blackjack site and say that you are wasting your life playing games of chance because I have no frame of reference for the subtleties of the game. Basically...Don't *SHOOT* where you eat. Lastly....Thanks for the comment captinsquash. So I ordered this thing
So I ordered an adapter for my Playstation 1 & 2 controllers basically what it does is it changes the awkward fat end to USB. I guess it works like crap if you try to use it on PS3, but it works like a charm for a PC controller with all the button AND THE RUMBLE FUNCTION being supported. So my hope is that it will work with Bionic Commando Re-armed, because I think we can all agree that a Playstation controller is far superior to an Xbox360 controller....
So what I want to see is Ben Judd saying that Bionic Commando supports other human interface devices beside the X-Box 360 controller... If it doesn't then I guess I wasted five buxxxx.
PS 2 controller
Hey Hyakitaki, I have the same thing, and is what I'm planning to use when I buy the PC version. It works great on my NES emulator to play BC (already practicing with a Playstation controller for BC:R).Oh and +1 everybody on the 2D love.
@Ben When the release date for BC:R actually gets confirmed I want you to promise to announce it in a post with the title: "The release for the release has been released!!" or something like that :)
ps3 controller (< or > ) xbox 360 controller
hmmm i dont know if i can agree with Hyakitaki on the ps3 control. i mean ive spent the better part of my life with my left thumb set higher opposite the buttons where the d pad has been for years. however most of the games i can recall playing dont use the directional pad. so where my thumb would be now has to sit lower on the ps analog. ill get to the point cause this will get long and drawn out. ill say if BCr uses the direction pad then the ps controller wins over xbox360 because of the placement of the D pad. Its where ur thumbs naturally rest.also it is an arse pain to play emulated roms with an xbox controller for me. the double tap doesn't always go as planed. but i think my perfect controller is the PS1 before the dual-shock analog. worse controller would be xbox orignal GIANT Behemoth. seriously playing with that controller felt like you were gouging someones eye out of there head...MASSIVE. but id also like to add a dishonorable mention with the sega gen 3/6 button. due to the BRUTAL D pad which i can only classify as "UNFORGIVEING BLISTERATER"
Question for Ben
Hey Ben, is there any chance that there will be a demo released on Xbox Live/PSN Network/PC for BC:3D? I think it would be great cause i notice that alot of losers played BC at E3 expecting it to cook a five star dinner in the first 5 seconds of playtime, and i think it would help change their minds if they had acces to a demo to better "feel" the game. I know alot of others were dissapointed at the fact of what kind of reviews people gave it because of people not taking the time to get the feel of it. In an artical I read, the dude clear put the heading as BC has control issues, but it was the dude himself that sucked. And further down into the coments, people went on to get turned off because of what he posted about it. I think a demo would be great way to let everyone see/get hands on the swing and get the love for it. I'm quite sure you guys have thought about this already though. If so, what are your takes on how the people feel thus far with out even taking the time to be rewarded with learning the swing? And could you possible give me that solid perhaps on the demo. Thanks-Nesto 326 OUT!-
A thankfull message (for once)
I know Ben feels like it we are crowding around Capcom HQ with pitchforks and torches, but the bottom line is that without you guys we wouldn't have a game. Personally if I were you Ben I would take every question for a release date, and every threatening comment as an excited thanks for remaking a much loved classic. Also I don't think that Chris Kline didn't get enough credit for his rendition of the Bionic Theme. Listening to it for me is an incredible experience, not one note is off key from the original 8-bit theme. His ability to play the guitar is un-real I'm questioning Vertexguy's species. Seriously someone like him must have had a guitar in the womb. I am actually demanding that his theme be used in either Re-armed or the Next-gen 3-D somewhere. I was thinking maybe increase the self-destruct sequence to 4 minutes, and make it a lot longer and more difficult while blasting "The Bionic Jam"...Although I get the feeling the production is beyond that phase so I think he deserves to have his music in the 3-D version at least.
@ Xbox360 controller
The Xbox360 controller makes an attempt at phasing out the D-Pad, I could go on from here cursing and screaming about how I'd rather have a cactus rammed into my rectum than allow that to happen, or make up something creative like:"Bill Gates can suck my Fiddlesticking fiddlestick while a gouge a knife into his fiddlestick black satin pants fiddlestick fiddlestick at the arbys around the fiddlesticking fiddlesticks with a syringe full of cheese."
Still i'm going to refrain and save myself the trouble.
lol @ Hyakitaki!
....Ur comments are truly hilarious and make coming to this site an easier wait for BC:R.It's funny that you put a comment up about "threatening posts" and "release date posts"...basically, (ungrateful and impatient bastards). I was thinking about that same thing myself today while at work. Remembering people posting things months ago about..."this game is going to lose hype" and "if it takes any longer to be released, I'm not going to buy it!". <<<
But yeah, like Hyakitaki said....take it as an excited thanks for remaking a much loved classic!
g4 xplay
i just watched a preview of Bionic Commando Rearmed on Xplay and i gotta say as usual OMG it looks so SEXY. and they also said to be released in a few short weeks.I gotta ask will there be any chance i can get my hands of a full body shot of the "Rad spencer" costume/skin change for the 360. i have basically decided after how clean it looked in the newest xbox 360 preview download. I have been looking for a really good pic of the old Rad spencer long before i knew BC was even gonna be made because i want it tattooed on my chest right next to my Fallout PIPBOY (or Vaultboy depending on where ur from) Cause in 2008 2 of the greatest games I love are coming back.
in my last post, it cut off the rest of what i typed after it. Basically I said.. "Now you all know damn well you'd buy the game even if it took them 3 more months to release it and praise the heck out of it after your first swing!"
captinsquash
Awesome!! Thnx for posting that up here about BC:R being on Xplay. Just went to G4tv.com and went to xplay and checked out the vid--Pretty kick arse I must say so myself! This title is going to probably be my GOTY.@Hyakitaki - Dude, you're liked 6 months too late! And there's no way I'm taking on Double Dragon 3 as well.
@typhon666 - I'll thank you to stop fantasizing about my "back door crevasse"!
blah
comics..blah blah...artwork...blah blahh...music...blah blah..still no date,oh well might as well get Too human instead of BCR.Let's Rock
Not the best area to leave this comment, but what the hell. I just saw that video on the home page of Vertex Guy playing the Bionic Jam. It brought back a wave of nostalgic feelings. It really reminds me of the Megadeth cover of the theme from Duke Nukem 3D. Come get some!@Bladewolf: Ouch. That's ice cold.
He's BS'ing....
Blade will buy BC:R the day its released and love it. FACT.Here's something moderatly funny
This is somewhat funny, and it deal with some of the things we've been talking about here:http://youtube.com/watch?v=ty0HQk2Jtw8
Interesting...
Famitsu is reporting that BC:R will be released on the Japanese PSN on 7/31. Seeing as how we've been told until our ears bleed that this game will see a simultaneous, worldwide release could one assume that we will be getting the game in the US on 7/31?But I won't complain if it drops next week or even the week after. ;)
Red white and cru
It's f'n great that Ben and Co. got some westerners to do the art. The Japanese anime facial features, i.e. humongous eyes, pointed noses and chins is so f'n lame that it's is the main reason I gave up on Castlevania as my favorite franchise many, many full moons ago. Just look at the box art on the original NES Castlevania where Simon Belmont looks like Conan the Barbarian and then compare it to the art of the latest effort, Order of Ecclesia. Awesome and then GAYGAYGAY! And Final Fantasy!? UGGHHHH! So a gigantic Fork You to all those anime artists who think it's cool to make men look like hot ass chicks. God bless America! and GOGOBIONIC!Hmm, my calendar was set to July 2009. Oops!
