Bionic Commando Comic Con T-shirt
Seeing as we showed you the awesome E3 Mega Man 9 t-shirt in a previous Field Report, it would be a waste if we didn’t share this one as well. The image to your right became a t-shirt that graced Comic Con’s halls in very limited numbers, and is now gracing backs here at Capcom Japan. Want one? Er, actually we don’t have any, but perhaps if enough people annoy us in the comments we will see what we can do!
(From left to right, that’s the arcade Bionic Commando, the NES Bionic Commando in-game graphic, the NES Bionic Commando “end of level” graphic, the Bionic Commando Rearmed character by Capcom artist Shinkiro, and Nathan Spencer in the Bionic Commando sequel)
Congratulations Competition Winners
And in other t-shirt news, congratulations to the winners of the “How Well Do You Know Bionic Commando?” competition.
As user dvincent747 correctly hypothesized, it seems our questions were
a little hard for you. Or perhaps that you were a little too soft for
our questions, you pansies! As it turned out, we had more t-shirts than
people who had correct answers (and that wasn’t for a lack of entries)!
In the end, we had to give out 15 "I Rescued Super Joe" t-shirts to the
winners, and to the users who came very close to getting the right
answers. We're just too generous.
Coming Soon: Bionic Commando Forums!

they'll be ready by the time you read the next Field Report.

Bionic Commando Rearmed Previews
After
20 long years, Bionic Commando Rearmed review builds are in the hands
of the gaming press. Two previews that we have spotted in the wild are
available at Eurogamer and a rundown of the co-op experience at IGN. Look for more previews – and full reviews – to hit the interwebs over the next couple of weeks.
Update: Rearmed Making Of Part 2 Out Now!
BCR director Simon Viklund was first off the blocks on telling us about this one - but of course he would, he's in it! The 2nd part of the Making Of Bionic Commando Rearmed series is available for your viewing pleasure now.

Great Info
This really is some great info here. I personally can't wait for the BC forums to go live. I definitely look forward to chatting to fellow site user about Bionic Commando. Also that Comic Con shirt art looks amazing. Hopefully there will be a way to get such shirt (either through purchasing, or contest methods), I definitely say please look into making it available to the rest of the public. Furthermore I can't wait for Rearmed, the anticipation is even higher with watching the Making of series (Which BTW is Awesome :D) and checking out the gameplay videos and previews.Lastly I'd like to know if there is an "American" BCR trailer that was said to be release this week via the internet (Which hasn't yet to be done, though PSN/XBLM could be a possible median in which it be distributed). Supposedly it was demoed at Comic Con, and more of a pitch for Western gamers, as the Japanese "Singalong" trailer (Which I very much enjoyed) was to appease the Japanese Gamers. In any case I know it hasn't been officially confirmed to be true, however this article (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/894/894095p1.html?RSSwhen2008-07-26_212700&RSSid=894095) states that a trailer should be launching, in which I'd be interested in taking a gander at :D. In any case, this is definitely great news and can't wait to enjoy the BC titles
Since I wouldn't nom myself to be a mod out of respect (although I would not refuse to do the job if asked), I think users like Dan Crane, Yuri, or maybe even The Squashed Captain would make good picks for the Mod Squad, though that's only by their personalities, not necessarily mod experience. I've modded forums before and it's a pretty demanding job with no pay and no free Cokes in the lunchroom.
By the way, if any of you have a gaming itch to scratch before BC:R comes out, check out Braid this coming Wednesday. Time mechanics in a platformer? Yes please!
BCR "Making Of" Episode 2 out now!
Check it out:http://www.eurogamer.net/tv_video.php?playlist_id=12754
thanks Simon ¡¡¡
I am REALLY enjoying these¡¡Keep'em coming¡¡
Great, Forums!
I already know what my first topic's gonna be. That is, unless I catch a sling of To-lazy-to-post-sickness.About T-shirts. I'd definetly get one as long as ordering it isn't a tremendous hasstle.
Count me in!
Hey guys! I would gladly pay $20 for a BC T-shirt. I've bought the Rearmed soundtrack, as well as the original. To be honest, I would buy pretty much anything related to BC!Without sounding too cliche... It would be an honor and a privilege if I were given the opportunity to be a moderator on the BC forums.
Keep up the good work! It will all pay off soon!
P.S. Can we get a release date for PC PLEASE?! ;)
@ dvincent
How DARE you not include me in the "Best for" moderator list? You hurt my feelings and made me cry.I don't want to be a moderator for the record lol.
Definetly: Hyakitaki for moderator..
I mean, C'mon, he's like the only one I've seen in EVERY post here (well, i may be missing others.. :P ).The only downside is that I'd be terrified of saying anything against Ben or the team (if ever). I'm guessing I'd be banned and some virus would be sent to my mail..8(
Other than that it would be great having your humoring omnipresence here Hyakitaki.
P.S. T-shirts? Yes please¡
P.P.S. the "Making of" videos SHOULD be on xbla for download..
I didn't include you because I thought your choice would happen by default. I mean, it's a no-brainer. No disrespect meant at all. ;)
T-shirt
Oh man another Bionic Commando T-shirt! I'd buy this one as long as it isn't black. Is there some sort of unwritten video game apparel law that says all sweet shirts need to have said sweetness nullified by mounting on a black fiber?WHAAAT???!!!
I just read the BC:R preview and it said NO ONLINE MULTIPLAYER!!! THAT SUCKS!!! I was really looking forward to swinging with my other Bionic commando loving friends online!!! I don't even have anyone to come over and play with since I just moved here... Why capcom, WHY!!!!?!?!
Can anyone tell me when no online multiplayer was announced? I just bought Geometry wars 2 and found out it didn't have online multiplayer, then I find out BC:R has no online multiplayer. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON???@ Lockdown
BC:R uses the next-gen Bionic Commando engine, which wasn't designed for multiplayer. So it was announced a long time ago that multiplayer would require a full overhaul of the source code for the game...which just wasn't in the cards.I guess they did design multiplayer for the next gen 3-D version, but I assume that took a lot of re-coding to get just perfect. Still with the entire game of Rearmed available in multiplayer mode, it just wasn't possible for them to pull it off within a viable time frame or budget.
So in conclusion grab a friend old-school style and play next to em happily... Also online multiplayer was a question on the "I saved super joe" T-Shirt contest. I've always found multiplayer for these kind of arcade titles to be too laggy to really enjoy the play anyhow.
HELLLOOOOOO??
Why do you guys continue to ignore the rumored release date?Man up and tell us if it's true or not! (August 13 for XBL, and August 14 for PSN)
I Can't wait to...
Get home and watch the next making of. Simon and er...that other dude with a thicker accent really made the first one interesting. Damn my job for not letting me be as much of slacker as I'm capable.Hmm
Can I buy like A Wendy Young (3-D ARTIST, GRIN) plush doll or something... God she's cute, and it's only amplified by the fact that she is working on BC:R.@the entire BCR crew..
Damn guys (and as Hyakitaki pointed out in such a poetic fashion) and gals.. After kicking my sorry, sad, archaic PC around a few times was finally able to watch the part 2 making of. The game looks absolutely gorgeous! All the saturated colors taken to the extreme to the rather comical and cocky fashion that the enemies carry themselves I think are going to set this apart from ANY $10 download out now or possibly ever. I'm sure all y'all will make your coin back to the enth degree on this risky little venture. Rock!!http://www.jplegacy.org/board/
I go by the username dilly_dilophosaur over there.
I look at it this way- this is the closest I'll ever get to working on any type of official Bionic Commando project, so of COURSE I'm game!
Sucka free
Work for free? 4 real 'tho - I'm growing some natty dreads mon, swinging like my Peter Rose, and shootin' up hell of HGH, winstrol and deca-durabolin into my ass and pecs so that I can get PAAAYYAAAID playing Rad in Bionic Commando: the F*ing Movie! My vote for moderater (s)
is tied between dvincent747 and Hyakitaki just due to their obvious passion for these games and the neutral but humorous quips that are added to this silly world of posts that we have all helped create. If my computer skills were better than that of a six year old, I'd put myself up as a late night drunken moderator. (or agitator) This being said though, I love the idea of all these silly bozos that are really into this game being able to shoot the whatever whenever they feel like it about said topic. The Bionic community rocks my brothers!!@Myztkl-kev
Aug 13 for Xbox, Aug 13 for PSN. Assumedly it would come out on Steam around the same time since it's a simultaneous launch.I want one too!!
Hey, if I ask for it in the Capcom-unity forums, the chances are higher, right? xD
http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/751401/Capcom_Store_Discussion_amp_Requests
Let's go there guys! The Megaman 9 artwork T-shirt is going to be available because we requested it!
Yuri
Reasoning behind my not being an Admin
Well I seriously don't have the time during the school year. Right now I'm just chillin' working full time, but during school I'm a full time student with a part time job and I try to see my friends once and a while... So in general i'm actually a ridiculously busy guy, It would be my honor to be an Moderator...I just don't think I have enough time to do it well.@ typhon666
I don't think just picking people who are the most vocal in the community for moderator-ship is the best idea. No offense to Hyakitake or dVincent747, they both seem like all right doods.@Santanaclause: Thats not a rumor, that is the release date. It was posted over at the Capcom-unity blog.
Here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/58dd3g
@ac9breaker
Well said, mate. I'm sure the best choice would be someone with mad bionic computer skills and an nice even keel attitude that can put up with the best and worst of us.I must know!
Is that "FIGHT ENJOY!" poster in the American version of BCR?dvincent747 for pres... er... moderator
I would have said Hyakitaki, but seems as though he's a busy dude, might not be the best choice. Those two do post a lot here, and really that is what you're looking for in a mod, someone who posts a lot and is in the community light as much as possible. Meanwhile, I lurk the heck out of this site... woot.I'd gladly pay X dollars for any Capcom-approved Bionic Commando T-shirt, where X is a number typically found in my wallet when it's payday. Can you really put a dollar amount next to a t-shirt that reeks the word RAD? (Did I just give a hilarious t-shirt idea? Perhaps. I'd buy a t-shirt that says RAD, if you let me.) Gearoid, make it happen. I'll buy 2!
@ushkushpotato(a)hotmail.com
That poster is actually in every version of BCR - the posters in the backgrounds throughout the game aren't translated when the game is localized. Jakob Tuchten designed all of those posters.Look for the "Always wear hard hat" warning sign in the Construction Yard level (Area 05), with an image of the classic Hard Hat character from Mega Man - aweseome retro reference!
Jakob did a wonderful job with those.
Scratch the itch
Hey guys, for those who can't find their original bionic commando or NES, here's a website that lets you play a little to hold you over till Rearmed:http://www.nintendo8.com/game/380/bionic_commando/
I wonder if they have other games as well?
P.S.
The origional Bionic Commando is really F'ing hard so be warned.HELLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
HELLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOO HOW ABOUT A PC RELEASE DATE!!!!!!! I guess everybody asking about the PC release date gets ignored, why can't Ben answer one simple question, and I don't want to here from anybody on here except for Ben that the release date is across all platforms, if you look, you will see that NO RELEASE DATE FOR PC IS CONFIRMED!! COME ON TELL US THE RELEASE DATE!!!!!January?!?
All right, I have a question regarding the sequel: I haven't heard anything about a delay, yet when I had my brother hit GameSpot to preorder it, they told him it's coming out in January or February. Someone clear this up for me.@ Sonic332
That version seems to still be in heavy prodocution and Gamestop usually gets rough estimation dates for the games sometimes which aren't always true. Those dates usually aren't solid unless you hear an announcment from the capcom doods and I'm pretty sure the onnly info we've gotten on 3d Bionic Commando is 2009. Case in point Zelda: Twilight Princess.Well then...
Looks like I need to practice a little more. I keep losing all three lives before I can get past zone 4...Woops...
You know, in BC for the NES he doesn't actually have a bionic arm...god **** it
I hate it when I die in a neutral zone! thats pathetic...Oh, and heres a website for those who think he does have a bionic arm:
http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/bioniccommando/bioniccommando.htm
That site actually has a bunch of cool info
YAAARRGH!H!
I finally got to the secret mountain base and then I kept getting eaten by plants! That sucks!Awesome
Thats awesome you guys are playing the nes version! I have the nes version on the gameboy advance in a collection called capcom classics minimix and I can get all the way through it maybe only loosing a life or 2, man I love Bionic Commando!@lockdown
Thanks for that link. I still have my NES and a copy of Bionic Commando but I haven't been able to get it (the NES) to work in a while. I played through it on that website, took me a while to get reaquinted with the controls but now I feel I'm ready for BC:Rearmed.TBA...
Well can't be to long now, they have the TBA on BCR on xbox.com.Getting closer.:)
First of all I am very, very happy for a few days ago I was on my hotmail account and I saw an e-mail about a BC t-shirt contest I couldn't open it though because I was "working" but thankfully I got to use some else's computer to get on (and showed 2 people the next-gen BC trailer and they thought it was awesome). Turns out they needed my address for the shirt. It made my day.On the topic of the forums I definitly agree with some of the above posters wiith dvincent747 for mod. I would be interested in moderating but I have a hard time getting (BC related) computer time at the course I'm at that has 2 weeks remaining.
;) Dancrane out
T-Shirt PLEASE
I'm going over to CapcomUnity to start voting there too. Please give us T-Shirts. Multiple T-shirts = Multiple purchases!!Agreed about the shirts!!
I would so rock a BC shirt. My band's got a screen printing operation going on in the bass players garage for our band merch. If the BC team doesn't make em' maybe I will. hehehehe.
