Apologies to the many fans out there of Top Secret: The Bionic Commando Podcast - due to circumstances beyond our control, there will be no podcast this week. But don't panic! We aren't going anywhere permanently, just changing our schedule slightly.
The next, extra-special podcast will be out next Tuesday, August 12th, and then every two weeks again after that. Instead of our scheduled guest Chris Kline, we'll be welcoming back Simon Viklund, the director of Bionic Commando Rearmed, to celebrate the release of BCR!
Why the delay, you ask? Choose from any one of these four:
1) We really recorded it but Ben was just too filthy to broadcast
2) Jon saw something shiny and accidentally plugged out the cables
3) Gearoid spilled whiskey all over the recording equipment
4) Miguel sang too much Jon Bon Jovi
One of these actually happened. We'll tell you which on the next podcast!

mmmmm whiskey-yeah, I think it's the whiskey one
-yeah, it`ll be fantastic to have Simon back
-By the way, didn't you guys say that when a release date were official you'd be screaming it to the four winds?
What happened? The news about the release AND the means to withstand the wait (it`s going to be an awful long week)had to be found OUTSIDE the site. It hurts, I love this site.
I will kindly miss you Gearoid, I needed you this week.
Hence celebrating the release the day before?
SWEET....damn...my live subbscription JUST ran out.
um ok
Ok, I guess we are never gonna know the PC release date, Ben doesnt seem to want to answer that, I just want to give you money and you obviously don't want it. Whatever, this sucks.You know what would be cool?
If you guys could just confirm or deny the rumored release date of BC:R and stop being douchebags about it. Thanks.Lol
I'm putting my money on the:1) We really recorded it but Ben was just too filthy to broadcast
With the way that the dev blog has been lately, I wouldn't be surprised if he had some pent up aggressionzzz lol.
About the release date though, I think they are either:
1. Keeping it to themselves in-case of another set back.
or
2. Just trying to drive us wild on the dev blog, while they watch us, chug anything with ethanol in it and laugh hysterically.
By the way you guyz should let me in on the laugh riot, you know my e-mail...hahahaha
Its almost here, its almost upon us.
Hmmm...
I choose a combination of #3 and #1. The whiskey didn't really settle in until they caught some of Ben's "mourning the loss of Jackie D".thanks for the heads up, i havnt had my xbox for very long, so thats a reliefe, i didnt want to have to resubscribe to just to BCR....although I would if i had to.
Three is my favorite number.....
3) Gearoid spilled whiskey all over the recording equipmentGoing with my gut feeling here, The podcast goes up the day before I go on the plane ride home so I'll have it to listen to so it is all "good in the hood".
@ Myztkl-Kev
Show me where on this site... The OFFICIAL site for the game, that the release date is confirmed, because I can't find it. It's because it's not here.They said on the podcast as soon as the release date was confirmed they would be all over it on this site and everyone would know. So far there's nothing here at all.
I'm shooting for 1.
Possibly a new swear filter needed to be completed because the old one lays ( . Y . ) up, on fire with sparks shooting out of it. Poor, bastard. You will be missed.@SantanaClaus89
You're not gonna find out anything, I have been trying to find out the PC release date on here for like a week now and nobody will answer. Ben doesn't care if you find out or not, he will leave you hanging just like hes left me and other people hanging. He keeps coming out and saying that he doesn't know this or that about release dates, and I fell for it up until now, now that the release dates are out for xbox live and playstation network, he should be able to give out the PC release date right? WRONG, he will leave you in the dark because BEN DOESN'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT THE FANS, JUST HIS OWN EGO!!!!!!!!Hm...
I'm going with #2 and then when Gearoid found out after playing a bit too much Whiskey Fantasy, proceeded to spill the booty over the equipment (though I thought the podcasts were going to be recorded in the Capcom sound room or something?)Either that or everyone just played a little too much Whiskey Fantasy and recorded a drunk podcast.
@Ben
Oh and up top you gave us 4 reasons for the delay of the podcast, you forgot number 5: That we are to busy finding ways of NOT telling you the important stuff, like the PC release of Bionic Commando Rearmed and officially announcing the xbox live and PSN versions on the official site.@DarkJediNova
Chill out man. If he knew he would tell you. No one, not even Ben, is dumb enough to want to intentionally piss off his customers.You have to remember, no matter how much you want the game, it will be released when it is released. Knowing the date doesn't make the date come any sooner. Would you rather know it is coming out weeks ahead of time, or just wake up and discover it is out? Both are equally fun. So go grab a beverage, throw on some headphones and listen to the soundtrack, and relax a bit.

Actually, I would like to know the date, even if it is quite a ways off. We were all told simultaneous release across all systems, now we are only seeing 2, the PSN and xbox live. If its not one thing, its another. He hasn't even come on here to tell us the PC version is delayed, or told us anything for that matter. The release dates for the xbox live and psn version hasn't even been announced on here, the OFFICIAL SITE, but its been announced everywhere else. What does that tell you? That he doesn't care, and he wont tell us ANYTHING! He tells us about everything else, but we all want to know the release dates for all versions. I mean, take this post we are on now, it talks about the podcast. Why not talk about, oh, I dont know, THE RELEASE DATES!!! He could have used the little time he had on here to write about the release dates of ALL the Bionic Commando Rearmed versions being released, not about some podcast. So no, I wont chill. Ben created this blog to communicate with us, and with that, he has miserably failed.I somtimes chuckle to myself
at how fun this site actually is. All the rabid posts (I'm done with those by the way) and the yearning for the next grain of virtual quasi verbal hope that gives solid answers to when all of us can get our grubby little hands on the much anticipated product "BCR". I do feel the pain for DarkJediNova and other PC gamers not getting a simple answer to a simple question. If I was getting Rearmed for my PC or MAC I would want some answers as well. At the same time though, from the get go this site has been a lot of verbal practical jokes and fan based humor. I always loved the Monty Python sort of "humour" that let the entire audience get to the boiling point (and often quite beyond it) before letting loose the punchline and still leaving someone in the audience saying................WHAT??!!?? THAT'S IT!!Maybe it's just my sick sense of humor that keeps me coming back here. Nevertheless, I have nothing but love for My Bionic brethren. (And yes.. That does include the Bionic ladies as well). Rock on!
To give fair voice to those whom want answers
in regards to my last post...I believe in true Monty Python fashion there would be some scruffy looking and smelling dark age Brits eating mud thinking of the best way to get an answer from their silly aristocratic lords of when the PC release date actually is. I believe their query would be something like.....
GET ON WITH IT!!!!!!!!
And now for something completely different..
Sorry dudes. Just got back from my friend's annual Python-o-thon that involves a lot of whiskey, old school NES games and MPFC. Later, Gents. I do hope all platforms can get BCR within a couple of days of each other so we can all arm ourselves against each other in a civilized fashion within our own particular....um.....ah yes! Idiom!
Release Date
The Release date for BC:R is on Xbox Live Marketplace now.Apparently they are having a "Summer of Arcade" contest, and it says what 2 weeks BC:R will be the download to participate, so it can be naturally assumed that the start date for that section of the contest if the XBLA release.
Coincidence
Does anyone else notice that the "Extra Special" podcast is the same day XBLA says they will release BC:R ?@DarkJediNova
Purely speculation but......I read somewhere that Devil May Cry 4 did not do as well as expected on PC sales due to piracy. So for that reason, the PC version of BCR is probably going to be delayed 2 or more months. This way PC piracy doesn't cut into console download sales. So, if my theory is true, keep expected to be strung along and not get a response from Ben.
@TomVanDamm
You might be right... man that makes me sad.I will wait out the 2 more months though if it assures us another 2-D Bionic Commando, :)
@TomVanDamm
Thank you for answering, I do appreciate it, and I can understand that, but if that is the case, why doesn't Ben just come out and say that? I can understand the thing about piracy, just when he doesn't say anything it makes me mad, but anyways, thank you for your response.@DarkJediNova
If I am correct in my theory, Ben cannot say anything publicly without losing face with the higher ups.A few more things to add
Originally the PC version was scheduled for a release One week after the X-Box360 and PS3 version, that is before the delay.Citation: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/51441
Also I pried into the Devil May Cry 4 piracy issue and it appears that in an attempt to thwart further piracy Capcom is going to use digital distributes... Which in my eyes means that the original week delay still holds (I hope).
Citation: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3169120
Also the price for the PC version was never announced, but it was announced that it was going to have better graphics than the other versions. (I'm not gonna cite that)
So here's what I see as the possible reasons for not announcing it:
1. Delayed due to development of a crack proof security.
2. Delayed due to TomVanDamm theory
3. Not delayed, but pricing still being considered.
4. Delayed for a week instead of 2 months.
5. Not delayed, and Benn Judd is laughing at us all, lol.
@The Squashed Captin
Thanks for the heads up on the new video. Those of us that aren't quite as technologically savvy as yourself wouldn't have known this new video was out. I just watched it and am salivating like a vampire for virgin blood for this game. Thanks again, El dude-erino. May we all soon re-arm oursleves.For those of you still interested..
Here is the "Readers Digest" version of the interview:August 5, 2008 - Capcom corporate officer Christian Svensson,
"Historically, our Japan group has been exceptionally aggressive with digital distribution with the first Lost Planet last summer, which was the first non-Valve fully Steam integrated title (used APIs which would later become Steamworks). In addition, Bionic Commando Rearmed, which is also a Capcom Japan project, will have broad digital distribution on PC and consoles."
So the Sony America CO seems to think its still coming out on the PC. Besides if your going to all that trouble to pirate a $10 game... wow.
Also I'd like to point out (for the haters looking for info) that Capcom is obviously trying to push fan sites to capcom-unity. Need proof? Where was the release announcement? They've even hired a "Community Specialist". So by the time Next Gen BC comes out we'll probably lose our quiet corner of the internet. Not all bad, I've started to kinda like capcom-unity since I actually made a login and set up my groups. Just random news... Rock on Bionic Brotheren, and wait for the day to be rearmed!!
