BCR - PC Version and PS3 European Versions Out Now!Vote Now!

Gearoid Reidy, Saturday 08-16-2008, 18:28:42

It didn’t look like it was going to happen, but we have managed to engineer a near-simultaneous worldwide release for Rearmed!

Although We did had some last-minute problems getting Rearmed out on PSN in Europe, thanks to our friends at SCEE, it went up last night on the European PlayStation Network Store, a delay of a mere day. European PS3 fans (and Australians, New Zealanders and all those other territories Europe includes) - get swinging right now for the low, low price of E9.99!

And we’re delighted to announce that Bionic Commando Rearmed is now available on PC from the following services!

Capcom Store
Direct2Drive
Gamers Gate
Digital River

And we’ll be announcing some more over the next few days.

Speaking of which, many fans looking forward to Rearmed have been asking when it will be available on Steam. Unfortunately, as we will not be offering Rearmed on Steam, as we were unable to come to mutually agreeable terms with Steam at the last minute. For more info, you can see this post from Capcom’s VP of Strategic Planning and Business Development, Christian Svensson.

We hope that this last-minute change doesn’t disrupt things for too many fans and that you can choose one of the many fine digital distribution partners where we will be offering Rearmed instead.

UPDATE: BCR should now be available in Norway, and will be out on the 21st for German users - sorry to leave you guys hanging! (Hanging? Geddit? Cause.. you know... the, um, swing...)

DRM? Boo!

Do any of these sites offer the game unencumbered of DRM? I've already purchased it from D2D (because you hadn't yet announced any other sellers), and was disappointed to find that the game is saddled with SecuROM. I'd be much more inclined to recommend this game to friends who aren't already convinced (i.e. NES Bionic Commando fans) if you followed StarDock's excellent example and offered the game without any DRM (which can cause potential OS problems, slows the game down, etc). It hasn't hurt their sales any; if any, it's helped them, because gamers generally get behind the idea of NOT being treated like a criminal.

DRM

Every version uses Securom (Mass Effect / Bioshock) so it's up to you which store you choose. Either way you get the same game with the same DRM.

Capcom's store is where I bought it. DRM or no it's well worth the $15.

Rearmed

Guys, excellent game! Truly amazing!

One thing that made the original so rememberable was that it was fun and you progressed along to rescue Super Joe. Then towards the end it takes serious turn when you find out about "Leader" and who it is they are speaking of. Which made it pretty shocking. I hope you guys keep that in mind with the 3D version. It needs some kind of twist in it that is socially and historically significant and ties back into our world.

Honestly I have say it, as amazing as Rearmed is, I do feel that you guys pussed out on showing a clear shot of "Leader." Reason being there are a number of people who might not know the original and will miss the historical reference.

Awesome game

Gearoid, Ben, Simon and everyone,
Congrats on an awesome game. You promised and delivered. Wanted it on Steam but bought it on Gamersgate, on Hyakitaki's advice. Absolutely no regrets.
Cheers and I can't wait for BC 3d.
