NATHAN "RAD" SPENCER

Height: 1.91 meters / 6 ft 3 in

Weight: 106kg / 233lb (without bionic arm)

Age: 34

Rank: TASC Special Ops (dishonorably discharged); Major, FSA Armed Forces (inactive)

Nathan "Rad" Spencer is a former operative in TASC Special Ops, dishonorably discharged after being accused of conspiracy to commit treason and four counts of first-degree murder. Although Spencer disputed the charges, he was convicted, sentenced to death and is currently awaiting execution.

Spencer was originally a member of the FSA Armed Forces, though his promising career appeared to be cut short when he lost his left arm to a grenade explosion in the line of duty. While on rehabilitation leave, Spencer accepted a position as the first test subject of advanced bionic technology by TASC, the FSA's military intelligence agency. He was given the codename "Research and Development #1", or "RAD #1" for short; the nickname soon stuck, and many continued to call him "Rad" Spencer for years.

Working under TASC's most experienced agent and bionics supervisor, "Super" Joseph Gibson, Spencer was fitted with a radically advanced bionic arm. The test was a success, and a long overdue breakthrough for the controversial technology. Although bionic-enhanced soldiers still had years of testing scheduled, the rollout was sped up as a result of a devastating attack on FSA cities by the fascistic Imperials. In the battle, TASC agent "Super" Joe Gibson was taken prisoner by the Imperials, and Spencer was sent in to investigate. Given the field rank of Captain, "Rad" Spencer had some difficulty earning the respect of his comrades, but the results of his mission spoke for themselves: Spencer succeeded not only in rescuing Super Joe, but also in single-handedly defeating the Imperial's war machine, the Albatross.

After the mission, Spencer was celebrated as a hero. Hecontinued to operate with TASC, and also oversaw the training of new bionic troops as the roll-out of the technology continued. However, not all the public were comfortable with the technology. The spread of bionics became a controversial subject, with some arguing for its development, and others vehemently opposing it. Following reports that a group of rogue bionics were aiding in a rebellion against the FSA, a presidential investigation was ordered. After a TASC internal investigation, Spencer was quickly accused of treason, and duly tried and sentenced. Despite protesting his innocence, his appeal was denied.

Everything he'd ever believed in or trusted had been taken away from him - his arm, his job, his bionics, and trust in his mentor, Super Joe. Soon afterwards, the development of bionic technology was outlawed in what became known as the "Bionic Purge", and merely being a bionic became against the law. Spencer could do nothing to oppose the move.

Nathan Spencer is currently awaiting execution at the TASC Military Disciplinary Facility in Fort Leavenworth.
